Education
| The Education program at COGS was greatly expanded in the fall of 2007, with many new classes added. Following are more detailed descriptions of the children, youth and adult programs.
Sunday School ![]() Christmas Pageant The COGS Sunday School is open to children aged 3-11, or preschool through 5th grade. Children sit with families for the beginning of regular church services, then gather in the audio-visual room for a group session of devotion, singing and offering. At the end of each month, a collection of clothing or toys is taken up to benefit local orphanages or schools, which provides a meaningful opportunity for the children to give to others. Children then break into smaller, age-based groups for lessons. Our curriculum comes from “Seasons of the Spirit” by Cokesbury Publishers and follows the same lectionary schedule used by our pastor. The Sunday School also traditionally performs a Christmas program. We warmly welcome any and all children to join us for Sunday School, and encourage adults and youths to volunteer in teaching and assisting. The Sunday School “year” follows the school calendar. Youth Program ![]() Youth Group A weekly Youth Bible Study group takes place during the worship service on Sunday mornings from 10.15 to 11am at the Capital Athletic Centre. A new eight session youth program entitled “Fruits of the Spirit” started in February 2009 and runs from 11.15 until 12.30pm. The sessions are led by Karisa Millington, and take place at Ta Yuan Diplomatic compound. The Youth Program is geared to students in middle school. Adult Bible Study and Spiritual Disciplines A Women’s Spiritual Disciplines workshop with follow up small group meetings and a Men’s Group took place during October and November 2008. In addition, there are currently two Bible study groups, which meet in members’ homes. One meets in town and one out of town. A community Bible Study group is also available on Thursday mornings. Introduction to Christian Faith This is a six-week informal course for adults designed to give participants a basic overview of Christian faith and practice. |
